Self Portrait - month 6 | February

Self portrait month 6. Sunny, hot February. Yes, you read it right! In today’s post I’ll share with you some nostalgic memories of summer in February.

I know I dropped the ball and I'm posting this self portrait a month later, but oh well, I'm happy I'm keeping up with this challenge and will do my best to post a portrait for every one of the 12 months. I'm halfway there!! Woohoo

This self portrait was taken in the beginning of February during our vacation in Brazil. I chose to post this picture today because this represents me so well. Growing up, I lived in a small town less than 8 miles from the beach. Every summer, all the family would gather to spend a few days at my grandma’s beach house. To have everyone together was so much fun. No one felt intimidated by the lack of enough bedrooms, and simply adding a couple of mattresses on the floor was more than enough to accomodate us all. Some of my favorite memories include the early morning walks by the shore with my grandma, fishing with my stepdad, the countless times I burnt my feet playing beach volleyball all day long until the sun went down, nighttime family time playing cards and board games, and skipping waves and watching the fireworks on New Years Eve.

While I adore the mountains, the beach has the most special place in my heart. It made me so happy to see Evelyn playing at the beach, just like I did growing up. Have I told you how much she waved and smiled at the ocean making my heart smile really big?
